First 5 Contra Costa collaborated with CocoKids and the Contra Costa County Office of Education to develop this campaign in order to support and promote quality early care and education for children ages 5 and under in Contra Costa County. Contra Costa, Diablo Valley, and Los Medanos Community Colleges helped create the Quality Matters program.
Quality Matters
Quality Matters is Contra Costa County’s program that supports and incentivizes child care providers to offer the best quality early care and education possible to children 0-5 years of age. Your participation is an excellent feature to highlight when you describe your program to prospective parents and caregivers.
Providers voluntarily join the program, and receive training, coaching, support and advice throughout the year (July-June). The process is continuous and guided by site specific quality improvement goals. Quality Matters is a collaboration between First 5 Contra Costa, Contra Costa County Office of Education, and CocoKids and is the county’s Quality Rating & Improvement System (QRIS) program.
How do I join Quality Matters?
Licensed and license-exempt child care programs, both public and private centers, and family child care programs operating in Contra Costa County can join Quality Matters. Currently, over 150 licensed child care programs in Contra Costa County are actively participating in Quality Matters. Most of these sites are located in low-income communities or serve children with high needs. If you are interested in joining Quality Matters, contact Kimberly Nguyen.
How do I let parents/caregivers know I am in Quality Matters?
First 5 Contra Costa collaborated with CoCoKids and the Contra Costa County Office of Education to develop materials to help you promote your commitment to quality early care and education and your participation in Quality Matters. The materials are available for download below. We can also send you posters for your classrooms and brochures to give to your parents.
